How Do I Set Receive Frequency, Transmit Offset and PL Tone for a Ham Radio Repeater?

Read a Repeater Listing
SettingWhat It Means
RX / OutputThe frequency your radio receives: the repeater’s transmitted signal.
TX / InputThe frequency your radio transmits: the repeater listens here.
OffsetThe difference between TX and RX. Use the operator’s exact pair and direction; do not infer it from the band alone.
CTCSS / PLA subaudible access tone. Transmit tone opens the repeater; receive tone squelch filters what your radio lets you hear. They are separate settings.
Digital VoiceD-STAR, DMR and Fusion are different systems. Confirm your radio supports the mode and follow the operator’s access instructions.

Hearing an ID does not prove your transmit settings work. If you hear tones but no speech, check mode and receive-squelch settings before concluding the repeater is down.

Use your assigned callsign. On nets, follow net control’s check-in instructions. Listen before transmitting and use only frequencies and modes your license permits.
